Are you having so much fun playing softball this spring that you don’t want the
season to end? Well, you don’t have to stop playing in June. In summer, BRYC
often sponsors teams in the Fairfax County Girls Softball League (FCGSL). These
teams are for players who want to further develop their softball skills and
continue playing softball during the summer. These are not select teams, but
often select players get their start by playing on these teams.
The teams are formed only for the summer, and disband
before the fall season.
The 2011
summer season runs from June 20 through July 28. Teams will play approximately
12 to 24 games over 6 weeks. All games are double headers played on weekdays.
The 10u and 14u teams play on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The 12u teams play on
Mondays and Wednesdays. 16u and 18u teams play on Wednesdays. Games are at
fields inside Fairfax County. Practices will be determined by the Coach, and are
usually weekday late afternoons or weekend afternoons.
The
number of BRYC teams that we field depends upon the number of players. In 2011,
BRYC will field teams at 10u, 12u, and 14u. BRYC will also sponsor 18u teams
associated with Robinson and Falls Church High Schools. As of June 8, all
these teams are filled.
